Who we are

Capital Offset Services Limited runs Alert. Under UK data protection law we are the “controller” of your personal information. You can email us at stephen.lewis@capitaloffsetservices.com.

This website

This website doesn’t use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers. Our hosting provider keeps basic technical logs, such as IP addresses and the pages requested, to keep the site secure and running.

If you email us, we use your email address and your message to reply. If you asked to hear when Alert launches, we use your address for that, and for nothing else.

The Alert app

Alert hasn’t launched yet. This section says what the app will collect when it does.

What we collect

• Sign-in details, either an email address or a sign-in through Apple or Google.
• Your list: the products you watch, your target prices, your wiggle room and your quiet hours.
• A notification token, a code from your phone that lets us send your alerts.
• Your subscription status, which tells us whether it’s active. Apple or Google take the payment. We never see your card details.

What we don’t collect

Your name, date of birth, location, contacts, photos or browsing history. When you sign up we ask you to confirm you’re 13 or over. We don’t ask for your date of birth.

Why we use it

Only to run Alert: to save your list, work out when a price fits your budget, send your alerts at sensible times and manage your subscription. We need this information to give you the service you asked for.

What we never do

We never sell your information. We don’t use it to profile you for marketing or to show you targeted advertising, and we don’t give your list to shops.

Who helps us run Alert

Some companies handle information for us, only on our instructions. They are our hosting and database provider, and Apple and Google, who deliver notifications and handle payments through their app stores.

When you tap a shop button, you leave Alert. The shop and the affiliate network that connects us may set cookies and record that you clicked, so we can be paid a commission. Their own privacy notices cover that. They don’t receive your list.

How long we keep it

For as long as you have an account. If you delete your account, we delete your list and sign-in details. We may keep records the law requires us to keep.

Your rights

You can ask to see the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, limit how we use it, object to how we use it, or take a copy of it. Email us and we’ll help. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

If you’re under 18

Alert is for people aged 13 and over. If you’re under 18, we’ve designed Alert to collect the minimum and to start with the most private settings. A parent or carer is welcome to email us about anything in this notice.

Changes

If we change this notice, we’ll update the date at the top and tell app users in the app.
